Digital Agriculture for Sustainable Production
Conveners: Aaron Fait, BIDR, and Naftali Lazarovitch, BIDR
Climatic factors strongly affect crop productivity and quality, particularly in grapes. In the recent decades, global temperature increases and phenological shifts have impacted yield, sugar accumulation, and ripening time, ultimately affecting the crop quality. Mitigating these effects necessitates a strategic approach; a combination of practices and resources spanning from canopy management and regulated irrigation to rootstock selection. Data driven decision making is increasingly implemented. Artificial intelligence (AI) supported sensors, mass spectrometry based profiling, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) driven satellites, and deep machine learning algorithms are emerging for vineyard irrigation and canopy status monitoring. In this session, we discuss some of the latest developments in digital viticulture.
