Health Workshop - Designing Disaster Research to Make a Difference
led by Prof. Colin MacDougall, Flinders University, Australia
As climate disasters increase in frequency and intensity governments, agencies and communities are turning to researchers for trustworthy evidence to inform short and long term decisions. As a result, more traditional researched led evidence is being replaced by research methods and governance structures foregrounding participation of those who will use the results. Planning such research is helped by the developing discipline of implementation science. We will use case studies and the experience of participants in the workshop to improve the ability to plan participatory disaster research and provide fit for purpose evidence to decision makers.
