The aim of the presentation is to provide information for the recent developments of cool roofs and cool materials and their implementation in buildings and construction infrastructures, as a means to mitigate the urban heat island effects at building, district and city levels, as well as territories.
Moreover the EU policies and standardization procedures for cool materials and cool roofs will be discussed and the recent experience of the development of a CEN/CENELEC Workshop Agreement on cool materials will be analyzed. The role of pilot implementations will be also highlighted.
